Jaime and Erik had me over to the beautiful Big Island property where they live just above Kona with the most amazing garden. I really hope they have me back to photograph their new baby and tour around the plants a bit more. These two are so excited to bring a new life into the world and it was a pleasure to photograph them in this beautiful time in a family's story. Aloha.

Andy and Julie Fitts are friends and fellow creatives here on the Big Island. I knew they would be great photo subjects because they are gorgeous, up for anything, and have a really fun and playful relationship. We photographed with soft serve at the Old Airport in Kona and ended at the beach at Kukio. Everything was perfect + they let me take pictures while driving!

Families, Kiddos, and Friends

I've started going through old shoots for the website revamp and I've realized there are so many lost frames that I wanted to share. This is a medley of mostly family shoots, but some friends, or magazine commissioned lifestyle, like the above photo for Spain's Revista MIA on living rich in times of economic hardship (hint: love up your loved ones), and some personal moments too.

Aloha // Big Island Lifestyle Photography

Tuesday, 18 March 2014 00:57

I had a complete blast photographing Justin and Emily around my Kona neighborhood on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Justin is a talented surfer who works with Surfers Healing and Emily is a California girl loving the sun and surf here in Hawai'i. Here are a few favorites from the shoot. Lots more to come.

I photographed eggplant prepared two different ways for an ongoing column on vegetables by Hawai'i food writer Joan Namkoong.

High Tech Design Off the Grid in Hawai'i

Monday, 10 March 2014 21:33

I photographed the Sheinfeld Rodriguez design team, Loomis and Daniel, on the organic farm in Holualoa, Hawai'i where they live off the grid. The German blog Stilnest wrote about their high tech design process and the rural lifestyle they live on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean.  I photographed Loomis and Daniel before with their son, Veda here on the Big Island. Pretty cute goat hanging out at their desk, right?

I promise, it's over. There are no more blog posts from the Baltic adventure after this. Our last stop was Germany. We explored the port of Warnemunde and also Lubeck. Looking over these photos now, it is hard to imagine they were all taken fairly close together geographically and all within the same day. The Baltic Sea sunbathers contrast to the gray morning skies and raincoats in Lubeck. I skipped most of the sights in this edit and went for what I liked best.

Malmö and Stockholm

Monday, 02 September 2013 10:29

In Sweden we visited Malmö and Stockholm during the Baltic tour. The weather was damp and cold the day we strolled through Malmö, but the sun was shining in Stockholm and the Swedes came out to enjoy it.

This is Valencia's own Santiago Calatrava's Turning Torso in Malmö. The tallest building in Scandanavia, where the windows don't even open.
